We believe that adding open banking payments shouldn't be time-consuming or complicated. That’s why we now offer flexible integration options that make implementing instant bank payments to your app or website fast and easy, so that you can focus on the things that matter most to your business.

Our developer-focused tools significantly reduce integration time. And our pre-built user interfaces (UIs), alongside the ability to use your own branding in the payment experience, can boost conversion.

What this means for your business:

  1. Flexible integration options: go to market quicker with our integration tools, including mobile SDKs, hosted payment page (HPP), and client libraries.

  2. Easy expansion across Europe: there’s no need for additional APIs or complex integrations if your business is expanding into new markets.

Flexible integration options

Choose the integration method that’s right for you. TrueLayer provides the following integration tools:

Hosted payment page (HPP)

A hosted payment page is the simplest way to add instant bank payments to your website. Use customisable, pre-built UIs to offer branded checkout experiences that your customers trust. Plus, use our new QR code authentication feature to authorise desktop payments faster by handing off the payment session to the customer's mobile banking app via a QR code.

Mobile SDKs

Mobile SDKs make it easy to add instant bank payments to mobile apps. With pre-built native UIs for both iOS and Android, make a smoother in-app payment journey for your customers. And add your brand name and brand colours to the mobile experience.

Client libraries

We also offer easy-to-use client libraries for multiple programming languages, speeding up the backend integration process and making it easier for you to build applications in a standardised way.

And there's more coming very soon!

Expand faster and more easily across Europe

Open banking payments (often called instant bank payments) are becoming more popular across Europe, with several countries following hot on the heels of the UK. There are now over 5 million open banking users in the UK, and a similar rapid growth of users elsewhere in Europe is expected.

But if you want to offer instant bank payments in multiple markets, or are planning to expand to new territories, setting up payments in each new country can be painful. It typically requires building new authentication flows and navigating complex compliance requirements every time.

With hosted payment pages and mobile SDKs, we’ve made it simple to add instant bank payments to your payment journeys across European markets — safe in the knowledge that every payment flow will be fully compliant. Today, we support the following countries:

Hosted payment page (HPP):

  • 🇬🇧 UK

  • 🇫🇷 France

  • 🇪🇸 Spain

  • 🇮🇪 Ireland

  • 🇳🇱 Netherlands

  • 🇱🇹 Lithuania

  • 🇵🇹 Portugal (private beta)

  • 🇩🇪 Germany (coming soon)

Mobile SDKs:

  • 🇩🇪 Germany (coming soon)

Throughout 2022, we’ll be adding more countries, including Finland and Norway to broaden our pan-European coverage even further.

TrueLayer hits new industry milestone, surpassing 15 million consumers

Hey, I'm Andy from TrueLayer, and I'm going to try and tell you everything you need to know about Pay by Bank—in just ninety seconds. Let’s start the clock. Let’s keep it simple. What is Pay by Bank? It’s a payment method that lets you pay directly from your bank account via your banking app—with zero need for card networks. That could mean buying pizza, paying for flights, or just about anything in between. And it’s actually pretty easy—and very quick. It looks a bit like this: start by tapping the Pay by Bank button, then choose your bank from the list. If you’ve used it before, we can even preselect your preferred bank. You then review the payment, and you’re seamlessly redirected to your bank app to approve it using secure biometrics. That’s Face ID or a fingerprint, to you and me. And that’s it—success. But no time to relax—we're on the clock! Now, this might be the first time you’re hearing about it, but every month in the UK, 27 million payments are made using Pay by Bank. And most people who haven’t tried it yet say they’d be happy to—if given the option. On the merchant side, nine out of ten businesses are already planning to adopt it in one way or another. So what’s in it for businesses? Number one: more potential sales. No cards means no long card numbers, no clunky 3DS2—just a smoother experience from start to finish. And it converts. Number two: because payment details are pre-populated and verified with biometrics, things like card-not-present fraud, chargebacks, and authorized push payment fraud are virtually eliminated. Number three: lower costs. Without all the intermediaries and manual admin, the total cost of Pay by Bank is typically lower than card payments. I'm running out of time—one last benefit: instant refunds. And trust me, shoppers love instant refunds. And breathe. That was a lot to cram into ninety seconds. If you’d like to take your time and learn more about Pay by Bank—and why brands like Just Eat Takeaway, lastminute.com, Ryanair, and Papa John’s already offer it at checkout—you can read our in-depth guide. There should be a link on screen now. And that’s it. Thanks for watching.
