Tell us about your role.

I’m a software developer on the team that manages the client lifecycle from onboarding. This involves ensuring payments get credited to their accounts, handling sweeping and webhook delivery, and more.

Having been at TrueLayer for over four years, I’ve also had the chance to be on different teams, tackling a variety of interesting engineering problems.

What brought you to TrueLayer?

On a professional level, it was TrueLayer’s interesting tech and kick-ass engineering team that drew me in. But on a personal level, coming from a small town in India, I was encouraged by former colleagues to experience life in a more progressive society. TrueLayer, being in London, felt like the perfect opportunity to do that. The culture I found here is what definitely made me stay.

What are you most excited about over the next year at TrueLayer?

TrueLayer is in a very exciting phase, working with major ecommerce clients like Just Eat Takeaway, Ryanair and others we'll be announcing soon. I'm excited to tackle the interesting challenges that come with that level of scale. I also moved to a new team a few quarters ago, so I'm really enjoying the opportunity to learn more about a different side of the product.

What’s a typical day at TrueLayer for you?

It’s definitely a ton of coding — with a bit of vibe coding lately! I also make time to wander around the office and get a glimpse of what everyone else is working on.

What advice would you give to someone on their first day at TrueLayer?

No company, person, or place is perfect, and TrueLayer is no exception. What sets TrueLayer apart from many other companies is that concerns are genuinely acknowledged and addressed. My advice is to speak up — ask, and your questions will be answered.

How has TrueLayer changed since you first joined?

TrueLayer has evolved so much in recent years. As we’ve grown as a company, the scale of our work has increased, and that’s naturally led us to adopt a more systematic and planned approach. Thankfully, despite all the ups and downs over the course of these years, the core values and the positive, friendly culture have absolutely survived.

Strangest job you’ve ever had?

Content writing for US clients while I was at university in India. It was strange because of the disconnect — sitting in India and trying to write content that would resonate with an American audience.

If you weren’t doing what you’re doing, what might you have done?

To be honest, for making a living, I’d still choose software engineering. But if we're talking about a hypothetical dream scenario where survival is taken care of? You’d find me by a tropical mountain stream, floating in the water, looking at the sky, reading one book after another, and devouring spicy food.

When you’re not at work, where might we find you?

Home, in a comfy sofa with warm clothes reading a book/kindle with many other books scattered around.

Words to live by?

Love yourself like your life depends on it, because it does.

Any books, podcasts or films you’d recommend?

Over the past six years, material on self-love has been quietly and steadily changing my life, so I’d highly recommend exploring the topic.
